Dear Mr. Schwebel,

My name is ████ and I am thrilled to be applying to the grant writing position with Forest City Gallery as a part of your work, “The Employee”. I was flattered and excited to receive an email from Teresa asking if I would be interested in applying.

My background is primarily in visual art, having graduated with a BFA from ███████ ██████████ ██ ████. Since then I have also fallen into the world of fundraising - for almost a year and a half now, I’ve been working for the ██████ ███ █████████ ███ ██████ ██████ ██████████ ██ ███████. █ ████ ███ ██ ████████████ ███ █████ ██████████ ███████████████ █████████ ███████ ███ ████████ ██ ███ ██████. Outside of these hours, I am in the studio focusing on my practice, which primarily is centred on sculpture and material. I am currently wrapping up a two-year project that was produced with a grant from the Toronto Arts Council.

I have always been interested in meshing my two professional spheres and this project sounds like the perfect opportunity to do so. I’ve had the pleasure of working with FCG over the past few years and I would love to continue to do so! As I am living and working in ███████, I do have a few limitations. I would likely need to work outside of 9-5 hours. I often finish work on Friday’s by 1 or 2pm, which hopefully will be beneficial to this. It also may be difficult for me to get to London every weekend, but I would be happy to further discuss the possibility of commuting once a month or so.

If this feels like a good fit, I would be ecstatic to be a part of this work. Regardless, I think the concept is fantastic and I’m excited to see where this goes for you and FCG! As I’m currently away and not with a computer, I don’t have my most recent CV/Resume, but I’ve attached two that I believe will suffice. I am heading out tomorrow morning to Algonquin Park until Friday, August 8th - I will not have consistent phone or email service, but I will be reachable once I am back. Please let me know if you may need any further details from me.

Thank you for your time and consideration, Josh. I look forward to the possibility of working with you and FCG.

Kindly,
████

Dear ████,

Thank you for your expression of interest in the grant-writing position for "The Employee". Myself, Forest City Gallery director Teresa Carlesimo and former director and project curator Matt Kyba, reviewed each submission and while we appreciated your application, we cannot offer you the position. We are looking for someone based in London during the gallery’s opening hours. I personally want to thank you for your interest in my project and to wish you success in your future endeavours.
warm greetings,
Joshua Schwebel
