I have other pages, this is just one option. These could also be distributed throughout the text, perhaps.

I like this a lot. I think 3 pages is good, you don't want to distract too much from reading the text.

I have other versions of this image, but I think this is the best of them

is staffed by a single employee. This arrangement is ongoing: Teresa Carlesimo succeeded Matt Kyba as Director in April, 2020.

It would be interesting to note here how long this has been going on. Was the director before Matt also the sole employee?

@director@forestcitygallery.com teresa, do you know the answer to this?

Teresa Carlesimo

As far back I can find in the records, FCG has been staffed by one person. So, decades from what I can tell.

Josh Schwebel

thanks so much, Teresa!

Do you want to note here that the councils are apparently unaware of the discrepancy?

Josh Schwebel

• 11:22 AM, Dec 30 (CET)
no, I actually am pretty sure that they are aware, but there isn't any real pressure to change, and on the side of the council, there isn't much political support for artist-run spaces. But that is anecdotal and a big swing if I can't prove it.

This could be a tangent that we don't need to follow at all, but should there be a specification around "outside of commercial activities and/or private wealth"? Would it be useful to note even briefly the comparatively small field that is non-governmental money for the arts in Canada?

Josh Schwebel

I added a footnote to address this

Is this correct? It feels like there might be a word missing.

Josh Schwebel

I just rechecked, and it is correct, but also SO awkward!

and the gap expanded to engulf the project in burnout and exhaustion.

But isn't this book a testament to moving beyond, or at least carrying on with, the process in order to make injustices visible, support the work of artists and writers, etc? Not to be too pollyanna-ish, but I do think that The Employee moves beyond exhaustion with this catalogue.
