Dear Mariane,
I hope that you are getting the chance to enjoy these last bits of summer.
Josh and I can now share the excellent news that The Employee book has received a CCA grant we were counting on, and so we are moving full steam ahead with our designers House9, with the goal of publishing in early 2023.
This also means that I can confirm that we will be able to include colour images illustrating each essay, and I am reaching out to ask if you would like to propose 3-5 images to accompany your text. Ideally these images would either be in the public domain or with a clear owner, to ease our rights & reproduction research and budget. Of course, as your essay deals with historical material, I can imagine that you might choose a mix of colour and b&w, which is totally fine.
My second order of business is regarding citations. Art Metropole has confirmed that they prefer Chicago, so we will be adopting a simplified version of that: each essay will have endnotes for its citations (no in-line) and notes. I'm afraid that I was overly ambitious in saying that I could manage your citations, as there still quite a few forthcoming details in terms of source material. Can we please work together to flesh these citations out? If you can provide a bibliography, I am happy to format the notes, but I'm also happy to work on this as you prefer.
In terms of a timeline, the images are a bit more pressing as we are anxious to give House9 as much time as possible with the material – would you be able to send your suggestions in the coming week? And it would be great to have the citations wrapped up by the end of the month. But please let me know what is possible for you, I know it is a busy time.
Thanks for your continued efforts on this essay, Mariane! Let me know if you have any questions and how you would like to proceed.
Warmly,
Lauren
