Hi dear Mariane,

This is a gentle check in on the second draft of your text. Josh and I are very excited to read more from you!

Let me know if there is anything you need from us.

Warm wishes,

Lauren

Dear Mariane,
I wanted to also add that I am very available for a meeting to talk about what you have already written and to sketch out the remaining sections, if you think that would be helpful. (I can’t speak for Lauren here, but I am fairly certain we can find a time that works for all of us).
I love what you have written so far, and am SO glad and grateful to work in conversation with you.
Warm greetings,
Josh

Dear Josh and Lauren,

Apologies for the delayed response and thank you for checking in.
I'm happy to say that I have significantly revised the text and think that it's almost there. Notes and citations still need fixing, but other than that I'm pretty happy!
You can access the revised version here: https://docs.google.com/document/#redacted

Josh, I've incorporated most of your feedback and have made some adjustments that help to contextualize some of the ideas you wanted to further develop. I'll be looking forward to knowing what you think of the revisions.

Maybe we can arrange for a meeting after you've both been able to go through the new version of text? Looking forward to having a discussion. I'll be pretty available as of next week.

I'm really glad for the opportunity that this text has presented. It's really helped me think through and connect several aspects of my research.

Also, Josh CONGRATULATIONS on your Sobey long-list nomination! I was so happy to see you in the list of nominees... I have a feeling you don't like the spotlight, but I think this is a wonderful and well-deserved mark of recognition. Especially since you have faced some serious institutional resistance at times. I really really hope you make the short list so that you can intervene from within the National Gallery!

Talk soon,
Mariane

Hi Mariane,

Thanks so much for this new draft. I can’t wait to dig in.

I agree that a meeting after Josh and I have considered the text again would be terrific. I am also relatively free after next week, but I know that Josh is traveling - what works for you J?

My fingers are also tightly crossed for the shortlist!

Warmly,
Lauren

Dear Mariane,
Thank you so much for this new version of the text, and for your kind words of encouragement!
I am quite busy this week, as I am opening an exhibition tomorrow evening, but I should be fine to meet next week on Tuesday or Wednesday, or the week after.
I am looking forward to reading what you have written!
Warmest greetings from Gatineau,
Josh

PS. If I do make the shortlist I will book a special meeting with you, Mariane, since I want to work on the CARFAC vs the National Gallery supreme court case, and I imagine you would have some tips for me. :)

I would LOVE to see you develop a project on the NGC vs CARFAC....

Next week I'm free Tuesday after 1:30pm PT / 4:30pm ET and Wednesday after 11am PT / 2pm ET.
The week after I can do any day after 11am PT / 2pm ET.

I hope your opening goes well. I haven't been able to listen to the podcast yet, but will do so with interest soon.
Mariane

Dear Mariane,
Thanks so much for your encouraging words, and your availability for meeting.
I actually want to say that as much as I would adore a chance to catch up, I don’t know if it actually makes sense to meet at this stage of the writing / editing process. I had offered the meeting before we received this updated draft, mostly in case you needed help working through the comments on the previous draft.
I think it makes more sense for myself and Lauren to take the time to digest this draft rather than to rush the edits. I hope that it is ok if I suspend the meeting for now, unless you are feeling in need of in-person feedback, in which case, I would be happy to speak! (Also, if you want to just catch up as friends without discussing the paper, let me know).
As well, for some reason the new draft is read-only for me. Would you be able to open the sharing settings to allow me to make edits?
Thanks! And until soon,
Josh

Hi Josh,
That makes sense. Once Lauren and you have had a chance to digest the new version, we can see then if a meeting is appropriate.

Sorry about the link. I've changes the parameters, but here's an updated link just in case:

Looking forward to getting your feedback when it's ready.
