two parallel tributaries. First, the form of The Employee as an artwork was intent on emphasizing the labour disparity in the present configuration of FCG. Second, the investigation pursued later in this text questions how and why artist-run work is so undervalued that these inadequate and unsustainable conditions can exist and are normalized within the Canadian artist-run system.

I don't think we discussed this, but in reading it closely, I wonder if we should remove mention of how this project is focusing specifically on labour disparity in FCG. Could we say here that the project's intension was to use the first tributary would be used as a care study to investigate the second tributary?

Is The Employee the "flickering-unseeable supplement" here?
Greg Curnoe, one of the founders of FCG, wrote the here-excerpted text about the history of artist-run organizing in London in 1992: “During Forest City’s existence the parallel gallery system was formed and government grants have become an essential element in its existence. Without grants from three levels of government, Forest City would cease to exist and most members of the gallery know no other form of co-operative gallery. Consequently, government funding has become the central issue in gallery policy, and remaining on the right side of the granting agencies has become a central concern of successive managers of the gallery.” https://www.gibsongallery.com/five-co-op-galleries-in-toronto-and-london-from-1957-1992-by-greg-curnoe/
