that's really great to hear that you are getting into it. I don't know R. Jaulin, but I approached this question from the perspective of "bracketing" a la Husserl, but also as in Schrödinger's cat... it's a performance but it's not a performance, depending on whether you bracket it off from the world, and as corporations externalize what isn't their responsibility (bracketing off).
I was also thinking about Michael Asher's work with the patent numbers of functional objects in the exhibition space as a way of complicating the distinction between function and aesthetic when it comes to authorship (I think Anne Rorimer wrote about this).
I am very curious to see where you go with this!
I am also very sorry to hear that you are sick. I hope that it passes quickly.
