Dear Josh,

I hope all is well with you! I am writing to ask a grant-related favour — we are currently working on our City of Vancouver operating grant application, and they are requesting for the first time this year that we solicit feedback or testimonials from artists that we have worked with in the last few years to include in the application. I was wondering if you might be able to provide a short account of your experience working with Fillip, and/or why you were interested in working with us. Even one or two lines would be sufficient, and we are of course hoping for honest feedback!

If you are interested in responding to this request from the city, could you please send me your feedback by December 5? My apologies for the short notice – I’ve only just realized that this requirement has been added to the application.

I have been interested in working with Fillip for years, as they have a specialization in conceptual and critical practices that closely parallel my own. Being included in their programming was an honour for me. I am so grateful to have had Fillip’s support in bringing my work to their international public. Working with them was a professional and supportive experience.

The Employee publication is gradually getting closer to completion, and I am still revising my own text on the project and the role of funders vis a vis art and cultural work, so these dynamics are very much on my mind these days.
