Re: Proceeding with images

Hi Josh,
Replies below!

Yes, I have some experience. Mostly it is just tracking down who owns the image and asking to use it. Sometimes you get a tricky situation where you need to pay, but then you can either find a similar image in free use or bargain them down saying it is for “art”.

I’ll make a point, when asking the writers to suggest images, of asking them to propose images that are either in the public commons or with clear provenance.

Ok great. I will give this a once over asap.

Yes that seems good to me.

Courage!

dear Lauren,
this all sounds great. thanks so much!
I have been working away on the items on my side. I did a few tiny adjustments to the first-person narrative, although I will try to stop fiddling with it from now on. I am looking forward to your feedback very much!
The conversation is coming together as well, although I still have a lot to get through.
I met with Teresa yesterday, which was really nice. I will go back and forth with her on certain sensitive emails (not sensitive between her and I, but regarding the hiring process), but in general, things are on good footing with her. We also talked about her introduction, which she hopes to have ready at the end of the month.
I am also still sending out requests for consent from email interlocutors (is there a better name for that? respondents? correspondent?) Most people are comfortable and have given consent, but there are a couple of people who have refused. Notably Mariane, Marina, and Mitchell have all consented, and I am gradually working up to the more difficult asks.
I will also write to Sébastien today to try to set up a meeting.
I believe that you will be heading off as of tomorrow, so I also wish you safe and hopefully, stress-free travels! and I hope to get back to you with positive news throughout the month, but will also try to protect you from constant internetting during your trip.
warmly,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Glad to hear things sound good. Thanks for the update on the work with Teresa.

We fly to Vancouver on Monday and I am desperately trying to wrap up as much as possible before then.

I will be able to give feedback on the first-person narrative before then, but I am not sure that I will get through the images/edits on M&M’s texts. I am thinking that the flight might be the right time for those.

I’m interested to hear who has refused!

dear Lauren,
one further note. I realized while composing the email to █████████ that the time difference between us will be too much of an obstacle to finding a time to meet, and moreover, it is probably unnecessary for the three of us to meet at this stage. I mostly want to touch base with him, to lock down his commitment, and to answer any questions or concerns he may have.
I think it is too early to really talk about specifics with him, since he probably won't start writing until mid-November.
Is it ok with you that I left you out of the email loop at this stage?
sorry for the switch-up, but I think it makes more sense for now.

Hi again,
No problem at all! Makes sense to me.

Josh Schwebel <privatejosh@gmail.com>

dear Lauren,
we cross-emailed! yes, I figured you are just trying to clear your plate before travelling.
this sounds totally fine for me, and if the feedback on the first-person narrative comes later too, no problem with me, I just wanted to send it onwards, so it is no longer in-progress on my side.
