Recap of meeting with Dana

Lauren Wetmore <████████████████████████████████ > To: Josh Schwebel <privatejosh@gmail.com>

Hi Josh,

I just had a lovely conversation with Dana, who is super excited to contribute. Although, funnily, her girlfriend is miffed that she is taking on work when Dana said that she would commit to a holiday. But, the end-of-September deadline has made it workable, and I emphasised that we are hoping for 3000 words, which she now seems amenable to.

For some personal context, Dana is moving to LA this summer (driving there from NY in August) to start a Phd in History of Labour at UCLA (!), so she will be doing this writing while moving and before she starts school.

To maximise her talent and time, I would like to give her as much context as possible about your practice and the book. I’ll share Marina’s other essay on your work, but I also want to share ‘Disintermediation’ and Marianne’s text. I think that they are both in a final-enough stage that this is not inappropriate. With your permission, I would send a quick email to get Marianne’s permission, and I would ask Marina about this in our meeting this Saturday. My hope is that, given the relatively tight turnaround, we can give Dana a really solid foundation to start building a text from.

In our conversation I placed an emphasis on wanting her to position The Employee in a contemporary art historical landscape, and we also discussed a lot of the elements in your brief, which were of real interest to her.

Hope this all sounds good to you!
