Dear Farah,
How are you doing? As you may have noticed from the email I just sent, I am dealing with some things.
But I wanted to write to you personally to give you more information about the situation, since you are my friend and it’s not so bad but a bit of a mess and that bears more explaining. Basically, The Employee has taken way longer than expected, and being committed to producing the publication at the end of the project has caused some problems. First, I really need the support of an editor, and second, I am way over budget (because the project took so long (in part, due to covid). This means that I can’t pay someone to come on board as an editor, or a proof reader, and without this step it doesn’t feel great to print a poorly-finished publication. I didn’t want to announce this to the team, but I am feeling pretty stressed about the whole thing.
In the meantime I have already commissioned the texts and will continue to compile the documentation, so that if / when I get the additional funding, it will be a matter of hiring an editor and proofreader, sending the files to you, and printing. But it doesn’t make sense to keep your team waiting for these infrastructural issues to be resolved.
So that is the state of affairs right now.
I am super sorry to have jumped the gun on this, and I hope you can understand,
